With the help of Auckland Mayor Mr Len Brown , New Zealand's first pharmaceutical grade infant formula manufacturer, GMP Dairy Limited, proudly launched its first in-house brand "Cowala" products in its state of the art brand new logistic centre last week.

After a year of intensive preparation, GMP Dairy Limited has recently held a formal ceremony to celebrating the launch of its’ Cowala milk powders in local and export markets on 28th January 2015. Auckland Major Len Brown attended this event joined by over 50 guests, including government officials, media, exporters and local and overseas distributors.

Auckland is the largest and most populous urban area in the country. Auckland has a population of 1,413,700, which constitutes 31 percent of the country's population. The city is the economic capital of the nation, a large proportion of the technical and trades workforce is based in the industrial zones of Auckland. The sub-national GDP of the Auckland region was estimated at US$47.6 billion in 2003, 36% of New Zealand's national GDP, 15% greater than the entire South Island.
Brown is the Mayor of Auckland in New Zealand and the head of the Auckland Council. He won the 2010 Auckland mayoral election on 9 October 2010 and was sworn in as Mayor of Auckland on 1 November 2010, being the first to hold that title for the amalgamated Auckland 'Super City', and was re-elected in 2013. Brown has witnessed GMP's growth and success throughout the years; Seeing GMP started off with a small factory to becoming a big cooperation group today. Brown has was please to see GMP being nominated and winning all sorts of exporter & business awards in New Zealand.
During the event, Mr Brown highly commended on GMP on its rapid growth and development over the short period of time. He was incredibly proud of GMP’s has contribution towards boosting Auckland & New Zealand’s economy by creating jobs for migrates and expending the export industry. He was also extremely impressed with GMP’s serious attention to food safety, especially infant formula, due to its traceability technologies (2D Barcode system) which enabled the production process to be transparent to the public and the distributors.

In September 2014, Evergrande Dairy Group was established officially and in the same year Evergrande partially acquired GMP Dairy Limited in New Zealand to produce Cowala baby formula. On October 27, the new product release conference of Cowala baby formula in New Zealand was held in Guangzhou, China.
Cowala products established a further milestone when it entered New Zealand’s Auckland airport and Australia's Costco super markets in November 2014.
The Mayor celebrated the success of GMP's primary brand and proudly presented the sole distributor certificates to Cowala's local & overseas distributors (New Zealand, Australia, & Korea).


Cowala products including whole milk powder, skim milk powder, nutritional milk powder as well as infant formulas are 100% produced by GMP Dairy limited under strictly controlled environmental and manufacturing process. GMP Dairy is well known for being New Zealand’s first and only pharmaceutical grade dairy factory, not only has it passed both China’s CNCA & New Zealand’s MPI audit which are 2 of the strictest audits for dairy products worldwide but it has also survived the NZ dairy quality issues during 2013.
On top of that, Cowala key raw materials are sourced from farms in New Zealand which is well-known for its natural pastures. Its location, climate and natural environment make it famous for its dairy products around the world. The milk comes from the farms where cows graze freely on lush natural pastures free from hormones, antibiotics, synthetic drugs, preservatives and major diseases.
Cowala milk powders can now be found in most regions and provinces in China; premium super markets and main internet stores in Korea, Australia’s Costco Supermarkets as well as Kiwi Discovery in Auckland Airport.
